Lotus Esprit S1 er kendt for sit polygonale "foldede papir" -lignende design, men blev i sidste ende berømt, da det blev drevet af MI6 Special Agent 007 James Bond i 1977-hitfilmen "The Spy Who Loved Me" med Roger Moore i hovedrollen som Bond. Bilen blev valgt, fordi det var en glamourøs bil at køre, hvilket meget passede Bond-karakteren.
